- Prime Minister of Georgia on a two day visit to Lithuania

An official Georgian delegation led by Prime Minister Nika Gilauri is to visit Lithuania on 2-3 September. “This is a first visit by a Georgian Prime Minister in 16 years since re-establishment of diplomatic relations between Georgia and Lithuania”, said Lithuanian Prime Minister Andrius Kubilius.
Top Lithuanian leaders and officials have been consistently pursuing a policy of strong support for Georgia’s territorial integrity and its aspirations for the Euro-Atlantic integration. “Lithuania’s support for the fundamental values remains firm and steadfast. This visit of the Georgian delegation led by the Prime Minister shows that we have been moving towards closer economic ties through our intense political cooperation”, said Prime Minister Kubilius.

- Data released by the Lithuanian Department of Statistics earlier today has confirmed that GDP Q2 growth was 1.1 per cent up against the same period last year, and 6.6 per cent up against the Q1 this year.
"I am pleased with the results of the ongoing economic recovery, proving that we are on the right track, and that the Lithuanian economy is climbing out of the recession, and, finally, that our economic stimulus plan is working. It will certainly require our further steadfast efforts and time to tame current unemployment and budget deficit. Then, the bare statistic figures of growth will translate into palpable results for the population."- said Prime Minister Andrius Kubilius.
- Lithuania Expresses Thanks to the United States for Its Non-Recognition Policy of the Soviet Occupation

- Lithuanian Prime Minister Andrius Kubilius welcomes the declaration issued 70 years ago by Sumner Welles, then Acting United States Secretary of State, which condemned the annexation of the Baltic States by the Soviet Union and established the 50-year-long U.S. policy of the non-recognition of the Soviet occupation of the Baltic States. In the Prime Minister‘s opinion, this policy was of paramount importance to Lithuanian people by giving them the power to endure and a hope for freedom and restoration of national independence; following the restoration of its independence Lithuania became a staunch ally of America and a firm supporter of Atlanticism (mostly because of the U.S. non-recognition policy).

- Prime Minister Andrius Kubilius embarks on his annual holidays on Sunday, July 25. As usual, the Prime Minister has opted for outdoor recreation: accompanied by his colleagues, he will be cycling along the historic roads of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania.
- Four Lithuanian students won scholarships to study in the US

- Four Lithuanian secondary school students were awarded scholarships to study in the United States yesterday by U.S. Ambassador Anne E. Derse. Prime Minister Andrius Kubilius was on hand to congratulate them as well. The students--two from Vilnius, one from Kaunas, and one from Šiauliai--were chosen on the basis of academic merit and English fluency from among 12 finalists, out of 130 who applied for the U.S. Embassy’s new ExCEL scholarship program (ExCEL stands for Exchanges for Culture, Education, and Leadership).
The four students are Gabrielė Uršulė Bartosevičiūtė of the Vilniaus J. Basanavičiaus vidurinė mokyla, Eleonora Lekavičiūtė of the Kauno jėzuitų gimnazija, Gabrielė Papievytė of the Vilniaus jėzuitų gimnazija, and Andrius Sakalauskas of the Didždvaris gimnazija in Šiauliai. They will spend the full 2010-2011 academic year living with host families in the United States while attending their tenth year of secondary school.
